Cancer of the Cervix

A woman's cervix (the opening of the uterus) is lined with cells. Cancer of the cervix occurs when those cells change, which can affect deeper cell layers or spread to other organs and cause damage. If the cancer is found and treated early, as many as 90% of women who have it can be cured. The more advanced the disease is, the lower the cure rate. This is why finding it early is best.

Cancer of the Ovary

Cancer of the ovary is a disease that affects one or both ovaries, the two organs on either side of the uterus. Ovaries contain eggs that are released when a woman ovulates. Cancer of the Uterus

The uterus is made up of three parts: the muscle wall, the endometrium (lining), and the cervix (opening). Cancer of the uterus affects the muscle and endometrium, and in some cases, the cervix. It is good to know the risk factors and the warning signs. If the cancer is found and treated early, as many as 9 out of every 10 women who have it can be cured.

HPV - Human Papillomavirus

Infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common in both women and men. There are more than 100 types of this virus and some of these have been linked to genital warts and cancer of the cervix. There is a vaccine that prevents the two types of HPV that cause the most cases of cancer and the two types that cause most cases of genital warts.
